This is my 250th post since becoming a Psychology Today blogger five years ago. My first post was published on November 23, 2008. Since, I have published 249 articles totaling 164,000+ words that have garnered 2,380,000+ readers (the equivalent of two medium-sized books).
Given that today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, I thought that it would be appropriate to give thanks to Psychology Today (and to my readers) for having made this blogging adventure such an exciting part of my professional life over the past five years.
Below I list my top ten articles in decreasing order in terms of the total number of hits that they’ve yielded thus far (as of yesterday). As many of my readers know, I’ve tackled innumerable topics in this forum and yet there is definitely a theme that runs through many of my most popular articles…SEX!
Fun fact: These ten posts (4% of my cumulative number of articles) have generated 907,015 hits, namely, 38% of all views. I am willing to bet that if I were to look at the top 20% of all of my posts, I might be able to replicate the old 80-20 Pareto principle. Addendum: Since originally putting up this post approximately two hours ago, I went ahead and calculated the total number of hits of my top 50 articles (i.e., top 20% of all posts). They correspond to 68.3% of my total views (so not quite the 80% predicted by the Pareto principle but the general pattern holds).

On a more serious note, in staying true to Thanksgiving Day, I would propose that we all take a moment to be thankful for the liberties and freedoms that are enshrined within the American Constitution (see my article titled Be Thankful for Your Liberties and Freedoms, which regrettably has not made it into my top ten list!).
